PRIF Annual Conference "Power Transition: New Hegemons, New Orders?"PRIF's annual conference will take place from 22 to 23 October. During the conference, the Ernst-Otto Czempiel Award will be presented for the best post-doctoral monography.
With reference to PRIF's new research program “Just Peace Governance“, the annual conference, under the title “Power Transition: New Hegemons, New Orders?” will be dedicated to power shifts in politics. Power shifts often cause justice conflicts which in the past frequently led to violent conflicts. How can new, emergent powers be integrated peacefully in the existing international order? How can demands for more voice and just decision making in international organizations be satisfied? How can domestic power shifts be translated peacefully into institutional reforms?
In conclusion, a roundtable is scheduled, where the significance of the subject matter will be discussed in view of both PRIF’s research program and political practice.
During the conference, the Ernst-Otto Czempiel Award will be awarded again. It is endowed with 5,000.- euros. It therefore is one of the highest remunerated scientific awards in peace research in Germany. The award is given to the author of the best post-doctoral monography in peace research during 2008/2009.
Conference language is English.
The conference will take place on PRIF's premises at Baseler Straße 27-31 in Frankfurt, Germany.
