This department hosts all those research projects which share the objectives of PRIF but outreach the boundaries of a single research department. They cover new topics and theories and develop applied research methods further.

Thereby, the institute gains the indispensable ability to react flexibly to new demands and to enhance new perspectives for both fundamental and applied sciences. Currently, two research groups have been established:
